of cute extensions & musing poetry..

Another day has passed.. time seems to go so much faster when deadlines are looming! Have not much recollection of what happened today, besides doing work. Wah! My mouse is never cold.

Had a bit of a good moment looking for extensions to install in Firefox, though - an extension is basically like a plugin enhancement for the browser. I found a site chock-full of these.. have yet to look through every one of them, but I've gotten two nice ones - a Bookmark Link Checker which checks your list for dead links, and one especially funny extension, called Firesomething, which changes the name Mozilla Firefox in the browser into some other random thing - like Mozilla Spaceoyster - every time you start it up. Right now, I'm surfing with Mozilla Superstarfish. Very entertaining ^^

A classmate of mine asked me to help write a poem for a his project, to help set the mood while the story is played. I suppose that's okay enough, but he wants it to be gothic-like. Arr.. am not really used to writing dark poetry, so I did a little research on the religion and the general impression it makes.

After a bit, this came into form.

The Blackest Gift
It is a night of sorrow, a song of subtlety.
Wolves vent their loneliness. The dark one awakens.
Night shrouds her gaunt form, an eternal fear.
Her midnight hair cascades over pale shoulders,
and her full red lips part slightly
To taste the blood streaming from the pale flesh beneath her.
Now a night of ecstasy, I hunger.

Very goth? Try out the Goth-o-Matic Poetry Generator! XD I've gotten a general gist of how gothic poetry should sound, though. But if you guys have any experience writing these things, do give some tips :)

of clearing space & photos of children..

Have been doing nothing much but working on my huge Major Project as of late - the deadline is next week, and there's still plenty more to do. Gack! Considering that this project will pretty much determine whether or not I'll come away with an adv. diploma, that's pretty scary. I'm doing an illustrated motion graphics piece based on a satire of the attitudes of KL people - so it's pretty much eat, sleep and breathe Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects and look at KL citizens day in, day out. Except for when I watch anime on breaks. Muahaha. Those will have to stop pretty soon, though T__T

Received an email from Nerraw today, stating that I was close to filling up my domain storage capacity - almost 90%! I was pretty stumped to how that could be, because as far as I knew, my sites don't really take up a lot of space - even with my main weblog and all its archives and weird pictures, all my sites and junk would take up about 25% of my alloted space.

Deleted some old stuff and emptied my email accounts, and there wasn't any significant increase in space.. and then I remembered the default domain email account which I never usually check because I don't use it. Logged into it, and found a grand total of 2912 spam emails clogging up the inbox! :O Got rid of the whole bunch, and my free space increased by some 30mb or so. Yikes, gotta start checking that account more often. I wish there was a way to stop the spam, tho'.. it's pretty annoying to get offers for things 'to make her last all night' and not being able to stop them because they're all from dummy email adds.

Was rifling around for a reference picture for my project, and came across a folder of pictures taken by my sweetie when he was here. ^^ There were a lot of good moments captured in there, but here are two especially sweet ones of my babies.

That's my little boy, Kyd. He's not so little as much as fat, but he has this adorable habit of rolling onto his back, hoping that somebody would stroke him on his tummy. If nobody comes to him, he just goes to sleep that way.

My little girl, Jusu - she's really dainty and ladylike. Always the one jumping into your lap, hoping for a snuggle.. and she politely mews to let you know before she does! She has the most beautiful pair of golden eyes I've ever seen on any cat, very mesmerizing.

I'm now using Mozilla Firefox instead of IE - tried it out of curiosity some days ago, and am now hooked! It opens faster than IE, and its tabbed browsing feature is really convenient, not to mention the Google search feature right on the tool bar. Other than that, it blocks pop-up ads, and you can skin it with different themes, which is smashing. Very nice.

Welps, back to work now. Hi-ho, hi-ho.

journalling issues.

I was reading this just now - the difference between a weblog and an online journal. According to them, a weblog is basically a page of web discoveries and links which the author finds interesting, whereas a online journal would be an account of one's daily life. That would mean the Care For Tea (my personal diary site) would be a journal, not a weblog, as I'm accustomed to referring it as. The line between journals and weblogs has become so fuzzy nowadays.. most online journal directories call themselves 'blogrings', and places like Blogger - if strictly adhered to the definition of weblog - should be nothing more than a collection of different link lists. Instead, you can see now that it holds a huge base of users writing about their lives. 'Genuine' weblogs with pure link content? Hardly.

How would one determine that the word weblog means 'logging other webpages onto a a single page'? Can it not be 'logging entries about everyday life onto a single page'? I've always read about adventurers exploring places and having a little book in which they would pen down the events of the day - and those little books would be called logs. I sort of figured that 'weblog' could be taken from that context, and thus would be in the same frame of meaning. Me be confused.

Well, anyways.. these guys would know about it better than I do, so a journal this will be called. But then, this entry itself is about other sites I've gone to, which would make it a a blog entry. And then again, I'm musing about the complexities of the word meanings found on a site I went to, so that would make it journalistic in that sense. Would it make this a semi-blog journal entry? Or is there a word which combines the meanings of weblog and journal?

On the journalling aspect of this entry.. golly, it be hot today. And there's a massive water cut here. Stinky poo, literally.

breaking in new lj..

Am trying out new Livejournal for a bit - hurrah! I think I'm going to mainly crosspost from my regular weblog on to here, but this place'll be useful in case I need to add any extra notes which I don't feel comfortable putting on my weblog. ^^

Well then, will be turning in for now. Nite.
